Monday 1st June

Hi Class 3 and welcome back, we hope you had a lovely half-term. πŸ˜€

Please be aware that this term you will notice that the activities posted on the class blogs will be a little different from what you have been used to previously, for example, they may not always include an English and Maths lesson. This is for several reasons, i) there will be a focus on Well Being for the children (in and out of school) as we move through the Covid-19 journey; ii) normally during the summer term we have a range of curriculum focus weeks; iii) to ensure consistency for groups both attending school, or remaining at home. This approach will enable teaching staff to manage providing the planning for both groups in a workable manner.

This week, the school will focus on Well Being in our school community and reflecting on the changes we have all had to make over the last two months. We will also be enjoying some new P.E activities; the weather forecast is good to get out and about!

As before, for those at home, please complete as much or as little as you can, there are no expectations to complete all the work. We will aim to offer alternatives/ideas to address any resource difficulties. However, please feel free to change; adapt to suit your circumstances. There are of course resources such as those on BBC Bitesize that you can use to support you at home. Remember, just do as much as you are able to!

Many thanks Mrs Davis and Mrs Mason

Thursday 21st May

Hi Class 3,  it's been great seeing and hearing about the work you've been doing this week. Molly has written about Guy Fawkes and created a fantastic Power Point about Votes for Women which included Emmeline Pankhurst. She also wrote a lovely card to Bay Tree Care home so well done Molly, keep up the good work. πŸ˜€ Jake has been busy growing broccoli and onions in his garden and enjoying picnics, learning about money and helping his sister Daisy learn to ride a bike. 😊

Beautiful rainbow collage with a brilliant smile Lucas! 😊🌈
I have now planted my cornflower (on the left) outside, I still can't believe  the one in the fridge has survived so long, not as many leaves though and they are definitely paler. This what the flower will look like, hopefully mine will grow into this.

Here's the video that I could't upload on Friday. 'Abominables' read by Mrs Mason

Friday 15 May 2020

Friday updates!

So I did another video this morning and I remembered to reduce the size before starting but it still is taking a while! So I will post it later on or tomorrow for you to watch on Monday.

A massive well done to everyone who took part in the 'Gloucestershire Rockstars Championship' this week. We ended up finishing in 63rd position overall (out of 92 schools) which is a great result for the size of our school. 58 children took part from across Key Stage 2 and they managed to answer an impressive 41,306 questions correctly! πŸŽΈπŸ˜Ž

Finally, a great effort from Sonny making his model submarine. Well done πŸ˜€

Friday 15th May

Happy Friday Class 3!!

Today's tasks are below.

Friday 15th May

The Science sheets link doesn't work on above post so here they are again.
Migration sheet
Answers
Migration Research

I will be uploading a video separately so check your blog later on Friday.

Final Science update! The window plant which wasn't given any water is still alive but very droopy. The control plant which had water, light and warmth is still looking very healthy so I plan to plant it my garden so hopefully it will flower? Do you know what colour the flower will be? I'll post a picture to show you later. Maybe you've already researched it!

Have a lovely weekend! The warm weather is back so enjoy outdoor time with your family. 🌞
Catch up Monday,
Love Mrs Mason and Mrs Davis 😏

Storytime!

It finally uploaded overnight!! Hopefully you can watch it. 😊

Video

Will do another one tomorrow and will make sure I reduce size so it doesn't take as long to upload!! πŸ˜‚

Mrs Davis has been uploading links to famous actors reading 'The Philosopher's Stone' and the last one was Chapter 3 which was timed perfectly for me reading Chapter 4. I'm afraid my character voices will not be quite as good as the actors and you may want to continue listening to them! I have brought home 'The Abominables' which had started in Class 3 so may read some of that next week.

Here are the answers to Science Quiz!  Answers
Question 10 is tricky and your answers may be different to mine so feel to let me know if you want me to check them. You are all great Scientists and you do lots of these skills without even realising! πŸ˜€πŸ’‘πŸ”

Thursday 14th May

Hi Class 3, hope you're having a great Harry Potter week in English and enjoying learning about Whales, Dolphins and Porpoises 🐬🐳.

Well done to Raph and Isla for their letters to Bay Tree care home, it was lovely to read them.
We received a lovely poster from the care home. See link below.

Thank you

This morning I did a video lasting 20 minutes ready to upload, unfortunately due to a few technical issues it's taking a little while to upload!! πŸ˜‚ Hopefully it will be on here soon!

I have been inspired by Joe Wicks and his quizzes and with my daughter's help I've created a Science quiz for you all. If you have extra questions or a quiz of your own I would love to hear about them. You may want to try this out on friends and family too!! I'll put up answers on Friday.

Wednesday 13th May

Hello Class 3,

Here are your Wednesday tasks:

Wednesday

Don't forget to look at your spellings again today, we're on week 4, choose an activity from the spelling menu and complete it in your home learning book please.

TTRS update -

There were 46 children from our school who took part today and we are currently in 50th position overall. The leaderboard only shows the top 50 schools, but there are over 80 taking part. I think the children have made a great start, especially considering that some schools have more classes and year groups involved than ours. Really pleasing to see lots of children having a go, hopefully we have even more taking part on Wednesday and Thursday.

*Drumroll* We have Chapter Three!

The narrator delivering it is...
Mr E Redmayne, from the sitting room at home, not the cupboard under the stairs for Harry Potter At Home.

Open 'The Letters From No One' now. ✉️

TTRS

Hello Everyone,

We just wanted to tell you about the ‘Gloucestershire Rockstars Championship’ that you’re all going to have the chance to take part in next week.

It’s a tournament against lots of other schools in the area that will be played using Times Tables Rock Stars. The tournament itself will run over three days from 12th– 14th May between 10am and 1pm each day. The idea is that you will try to answer as many questions as you can during those times. You’ll earn a point for each correct answer and these will be used to work out the highest scoring individuals, classes and schools.

This event is optional, but it would be brilliant if we can get as many of you involved as possible. You don’t need to be on it continuously, just go on for as long as suits you between 10am and 1pm. Every point will count - we’re aiming for the top of the leader boards!
We’re going to be sending an email out to your parents about this too. In the meantime, please try and get in some practice sessions.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend,

Mrs Piper and Miss Dimond
PS: Keep your eyes open for the promotional video – it should be coming your way soon!

Letters for Bay Tree Care Home

Hey Class 3!!

Thank you for all your letters you have written to the residents of Bay Tree Care Home. We have received letters from Clara, Alfie, Betsy, Alexa, Lyra, Jake, George A, Thomas, Lily, Amira, Zosa and Belle. Well done all of you, the letters were written beautifully and we have really enjoyed reading them. It's great for us to hear what you've been up to at home and find out a fact or two that we didn't know before! 😊 The residents are going to love receiving these wonderful letters and pictures. They definitely brought a smile to our faces! πŸ˜ƒπŸŒˆ

Science update! 🌷

I have been really surprised to see the plant in the fridge has been growing well, then I thought about the plants we see growing during winter and they don't get a lot of warmth. Are there some plants that need warmth and some that don't? Maybe another investigation needed? πŸ‘πŸ’‘The plant in the dark cupboard and the one in the window without water are not looking very healthy at all! Think that shows us clear results about what a plant need to grow healthily. I'll post some photos next week.

Oliver and Monty had some great results from the walking water experiment. Oliver used warm water and Monty used cold water. Oliver's definitely mixed better showing the colour green but did the water travel quicker? Who has an answer for me?

I'll share their photos later.

Well done Betsy on you Ocean fact File! It looks great, love the layout and the pictures. 😍

Photos of plants

Finally got the photos uploaded! πŸ˜ƒ

The red water travelled through the paper towel but only a few drops passed into the glass.
The same process occurs when water is transported up the stem of a plant.

Science experiment

Hi Class 3,

So far not a lot has changed with our cornflower plants but we did notice that the plants in the cupboard and in the fridge haven't been drinking the water. Also it be hard to see in the photos but the control plant leaves are definitely the brightest and look the healthiest. We will leave them over weekend and check again next week.

Sorry photos don't seem to be uploading.

Will try again on Monday.

Here are some of our walking water/ water transportation experiment, going to try this again next week too.

Have a great weekend πŸ˜€
