Welcome to your first day of home learning in Year 3!

Our morning Zoom will be to introduce the lessons for the day, then we will catch up at lunch and check how things are going. Our final zoom of the day will be to continue reading our class book, 'The Creakers'. by Tom Fletcher.

Reading Plus -  login to your ReadingPlus account and complete this weeks 5 reading books and the Vocabulary activity. Click here to go the website. You made need the 'Site Code', which is 'rpholya1'. You already know your username and password already as you use them daily at school.

Snails

 Hi Class3 Parents!   🐌

The children may have come home and asked you already but I thought I'd better confirm that I would like somebody to look after the snails over the summer holidays.

They are fairly low maintenance and low cost! The children have been helping clean them out and feed them each week and have really enjoyed having them in class.

They eat cucumber, need spraying once a week, old food and excrement removed and perhaps once over the holidays they could have tank cleaned and soil replaced (which I will provide). They can be left for 4-5 days if you are planning to go away at all just make sure soil is damp and they aren't left in a hot place.

If your child wants to hold them at all, that is fine just make sure their hand have been sprayed with water as need to be damp.

I have told the class that if I have lots of offers I will put names into hat to make it fair.

Science Project Day 06.05.21

 Hi Class 3!

Here is all the information you need to carry out the Rocket Mice Investigation tomorrow. I am looking forward to hearing all about what happened, what you found out and how you would do it differently if you did it again! Remember to use lots of scientific vocabulary and write detailed explanations.

Here is the video to watch.

You can be as creative as you like with your Rocket Mouse 🐁 and if you choose to do more than one Rocket Mouse then that will give you something different (a variable) which you can test as part of your investigation.

After you have finished you may want to write a story or a poem about your Rocket Mouse or you could think of something that happened to Rocket Mouse which you need to report on like in a Newspaper.

If you would like to do something completely different you may want to create a mosaic like you did in class today.

Don't forget to fit in some exercise as you'll be missing your playtimes on the field!

Class 3 Homework

 All the children should have brought home some homework on Friday. This is the first bit of homework they have had for a while apart from spellings so I have chosen two fun pieces to get them going. 

There is a an English ordering objects alphabetically- great for dictionary skills and spellings) and a Maths (division with a remainder- this came up in a arithmetic test and lots had forgotten how to do it.) task but normally they will either get a Maths or English task to complete in their books. 

Lots of children didn't have their homework books in school or book bags so could they be tracked down and be back in school. Could Homework be returned by Thursday please.

Reading books will still go home on Thursday (sorry we forgot last Thursday till end of day so some children brought them home on Friday.)

Please still encourage your child to colour in books on bookshelf sheet when reading at home.

Hope this helps and don't hesitate to email if you have further questions or jot a note in your child's homework book.

Our rainforest-inspired work of art will need some materials that you can find at home and bring in to school. If you have any magazines please bring them in on Monday, in particular you will need shades and tones of green paper.

Just wanted to say well done for your work today and sorry we couldn't hear all your raps, it was very tight on time trying to finish The Witches! Hope you enjoyed the story, I just want to know what happens next in the castle! Will it be successful?

Sorry the class couldn't hear your rap Florence, it was great and don't forget to give yourself a merit.

Hope the science went well, I was hoping to talk about it with you so hopefully you can email me some of the work. I've got some photos from Oscar to go on my display.
